Clear Lake

Have you ever heard the saying, “Houston, We have a problem?” if you have then it is because NASA’s (Yeah – that NASA) A.K.A. Johnson Space Center (JSC) Mission Control is nestled in Houston but more specifically the suburb of Clear Lake which was annexed by the city of Houston in 1977 which technically means that the great city of Clear Lake put a man on the moon on July 21, 1969.   This is why if you come to the suburb of Clear Lake you will see countless reminders and references to the “space city” and when visiting neighbouring restaurants , you may see pictures of famous astronauts adorning walls meeting with locals and dining out. You called them celebrity, but we called them neighbour. Many of the astronauts and staff worked at NASA and lived in nearby communities including Nassau Bay, Southeast Houston, Pasadena, Webster, Seabrook and Kemah. JSC was the home of NASA’s Space Shuttle Program from 1981 to 2011 and currently leads International Space Station operations and missions, development of the Orion spacecraft and NASA’s Gateway outpost program.
